The 19th edition of the IFSC World Championships, taking place in Seoul, South Korea, from 21 to 28 September, will be the closing Climbing show of the season, bringing the IFSC flagship event back to Asia six years after Hachioji 2019. The IFSC is glad to announce the calendar of Climbing events for the upcoming 2025 season, including 12 World Cups and two Championships. Kicking off in April and closing in September, the season features 12 World Cup events and two Championships.

Boulder
With eight finalists now in Boulder, the running order also changes with multiple climbers on the mats at the same time – excluding the first and last rotation when one climber will feature. This is foreseen to help ensure viewers see continuous climbing with climbers on the wall while others may take some rest or route reading time on the mat. Boulder will now align with the Lead discipline with 24 semi-final places available, and eight for the final round. The expanded number of finals places is also thought to help increase the probability of more nations claiming finals appearances.
IFSC World Cup Bern 2025
Over 600 athletes male and 279 female – are registered to compete across the three core disciplines – Boulder, Lead and Speed, and across two age groups – U19 and U17. The event will be the first edition featuring competitors divided into two age categories instead of the previous three (U16, U18 and U20). It’s confirmed sport with two medals in Paris 2024 and sport in the Olympic Programme in Los Angeles 2028. Throughout the entire Series, semi-final and final rounds of all Boulder and Lead competitions are going to be live streamed on the YouTube channel of the Federation, with geo blocking applied to selected countries and territories. Speed qualifications and finals will also be live streamed on the IFSC YouTube channel, with geo restrictions only applied to the latter. IFSC Youth European Cup Graz 2025
The IFSC Youth World Championships 2025 began in Helsinki with the U19 Boulder qualification at the Helsingin Kiipeilykeskus – one of two that will play host in the Finnish capital city. On January 27th, 2007, in Frankfurt, Germany 57 Federations founded the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC). The Statutes and By-laws, as well as the regulations of the new International Federation, were unanimously adopted . A few weeks later, the IWGA also accepted the IFSC, confirming climbing’s place in the 2009 Kaoshiung World Games. On 26 June 2024, IPC announced that what are ifsc and micr codes Para Climbing will be officially in the programme of Paralympic Games 2028.
The first event in the IFSC World Cup Series 2025 will be the opening event of the season in Keqiao, China from 18 to 20 April. The IFSC World Cup will see a new scoring system in place for the Boulder discipline when action returns for the 2025 Series. On the other hand, the yearly IFSC Youth World Championships will return to Europe for the first time in four years, gathering the future of the sport in Helsinki, Finland, between late July and early August. Additional IFSC World Cup events in Lead and Speed are currently under evaluation and might be added to the calendar ad a later stage. Making its long-awaited return to the World Cup Series calendar is Bern, Switzerland, host city of last year’s Climbing and Para Climbing World Championships, and location of an IFSC World Cup event back in September 2008. The ten planned live streams will feature IFSC World Cup commentator Matt Groom who will be joined by competitors, sponsors, coaches and other climbing figures from the Youth World Championships. The IOC Executive Board included Sport Climbing on the shortlist (with seven other sports) as a possible new event for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. An international non-governmental and non-profit organisation, the IFSC’s main objectives are the direction, regulation, promotion, development, and furtherance of climbing competitions around the world. The opening World Cup events of the season will be available on a variety of digital and linear platforms.
